Victim Advocacy

At CARE House, we don’t want child victims and their families to ever feel they are alone as they navigate through this challenging time. Victim support and advocacy are available throughout the investigation and prosecution of cases. Information regarding the rights of a crime victim and local services are routinely available to all families.

An investigation of child abuse and possible legal proceedings are often stressful for children and their families. As the criminal justice system was designed for adults, it can be a confusing, frightening and frustrating experience for a child and their family. Our goal is to limit the secondary trauma during this process.

Victim advocates work with families referred to CARE House and provide crisis intervention, education about the investigation and criminal justice process including accompaniment to court, ongoing support and help to connect families with additional resources.
