Team Investigations
Children and their families receive services from specially trained child abuse professionals. Our multidisciplinary team (MDT) facilitates a comprehensive, well defined, cooperative process that not only results in a more successful investigation and prosecution, but also, and more importantly, provides a better and less traumatic response to the child victim and the child’s family.
With the child victim and child’s family in mind, the primary goals of our MDT include:
- Elimination of duplicative efforts by professionals
- Protection of the child and the child’s family from further abuse and trauma
- Responsive, successful investigation and prosecution of alleged offenders
- Assurance of specialized therapeutic care to meet the needs of the child and family
A multidisciplinary team for response to child abuse allegations includes representation from the following:
- Law enforcement
- Child protective services
- Prosecution
- Mental health
- Medical
- Victim advocacy
- Children’s Advocacy Center staff
