Volunteer
There are many opportunities to volunteer with CARE House. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. We appreciate every person who chooses to spend their time serving the children and families of CARE House.
Example duties and responsibilities:
- Answer telephones and greet arriving visitors
- Clerical work (i.e. stamping, labeling, sorting, shredding)
- Initiate play activities with children
- Serve children and family members drinks and snacks
- Supervise children when parent is not present
- Light cleaning (i.e. maintaining play areas/cleaning toys, sanitizing)
- Report any absence or change of schedule to supervisor
Qualifications:
- Age 18 or older
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to relate easily to children and families
- Calm demeanor, polite and dependable
- Maintain confidentiality of children, families and staff
- Ability to relate easily to professional staff
- Remain patient and non-judgmental
- Ability to process information accurately, deal with the public, possess excellent communication and listening skills
- Experience in general office duties
- Good health and cleanliness is essential
- Must receive flu shot
Time commitment:
Volunteers make a commitment of four hours a week on a regularly scheduled basis. Volunteer positions are available Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
